Meet
Dr Daniel O’Connor

Dr. Daniel O’Connor is a registered Specialist Orthodontist with the Dental Board of Australia and Director at Solas Orthodontics.

Daniel was born in Cork, Ireland, where he completed a 5-year Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS NUI), at University College Cork, in 2002.

He subsequently moved to London where he soon became Head Dental Associate at the prestigious Family Dental Practice, where he stayed for four years. During his time as a General Dentist, Daniel developed his interests in cosmetic and preventive dentistry, and completed entry into Specialist training at the Royal College of Surgeons England.

A subsequent move to Hong Kong saw Daniel complete a 3-year Specialist Orthodontic residency at the Prince Philip Dental Hospital. This program had a strong emphasis on early interceptive treatment for children, dentofacial orthopaedic treatment for adolescents and various approaches for adult treatment, including cosmetic and invisible (Invisalign, Damon Clear, Incognito lingual) braces.

After graduating with a Masters in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (MOrth) from the University of Hong Kong, he also successfully completed membership to the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (MOrth RCSEdin).

His orthodontic research has been published internationally and he has presented at European Orthodontic Society Conferences.

Daniel is an active member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, Australian Dental Association, and European Orthodontic Society, in an effort to keep up with the latest advances within the industry and provide his patients with the most current orthodontic treatment solutions.

He’s now lived in Perth for close to 13 years with his wife, son and daughter. Ever the family man, Daniel’s two sisters and their families also call WA home. He also enjoys cycling, tennis and rugby, and counts himself a proud Western Force supporter.

The Solas philosophy

The Solas philosophy is to take a full-face, holistic approach to our clients’ alignment issues. Treatments have the capacity to delicately reshape the symmetry of the whole face, not merely the smile.

We are passionate  about what we do and take the time to understand our patients’ concerns with their smile, teeth or face.

We care about our patients and feel blessed to be part of their journey towards happiness and confidence.

The inspiration

When it comes to orthodontics, experience is everything. Not just the 19+ years that Dr Daniel O’Connor has been in practice, but the experience you have as a client.

Dr’ O’Connor opened Solas Orthodontics in Wembley five years ago. He was inspired by many leading international practices’ approach to orthodontic care – noting that a more holistic, full-face focussed approach to orthodontics was lacking in Perth.

The name ‘Solas, comes from the Gaelic for ‘light,’ and ‘comfort.’ To us, that speaks of how we use a caring hand to help the light of a person’s inner beauty shine through, to inspire a life perfectly aligned.

Meet Dr Daniel O’Connor by booking an initial one-hour appointment at Wembley’s specialist orthodontic practice.
