Great with kids, and great for their smile!
Early intervention is key.
The earlier teeth issues are looked after, the more problems can be avoided down the road. Early interceptive braces and orthodontic appointments are common for just this reason. Meant for children aged from around seven to 13 years old, they identify and fix problems that occur as adult teeth grow in, potentially avoiding invasive treatment and the need for removal of healthy teeth later on.
Kids have nothing to fear – Dr O’Connor specialises in braces for children, and getting braces is faster and more comfortable thanks to recent advances in technology. Assuring straight teeth has never been easier with early orthodontic intervention.

Our state-of-the-art scanning technology means no impressions are required.
Solas is home to the latest 3D digital scanning technology and in-house X-ray facilities to better know your smile, the underlying causes of alignment issues, and help you understand the process moving forward.
3 Let’s start their smile journey
Time to pick a favourite colour!
Once you’re happy with the proposed treatment plan, Dr O’Connor and our team will put the braces on and make any adjustments required. His caring, good-natured manner will help put your child’s mind at ease – and the option to choose their own coloured or sparkly bands make it a bit of fun!

What age should I be looking at braces for my child?
The best time for your child’s first orthodontic appointment is between the ages of seven and nine, when adult teeth have started to develop. Treatment may not be immediately required, but monitoring is important to identify potential problems.
Braces are usually fitted by the age of 12 or 13, when adult teeth have fully developed. There are many different types of braces available, including fixed braces, braces that can be attached and removed, and braces that are practically invisible.
What is the average cost of treatment of this kind?
Because treatment needs are different for each child, we will give you an accurate cost after your orthodontic consultation.
How long will my child have to wear braces?
Treatment with braces can take up to two years, but improvements are usually noticed within a few months.
Do you have payment plans available?
